Van Gaal was zich er ook zelf wel van bewust dat zijn Engels niet altijd correct was, getuige de volgende voorbeelden: ‘Now we have to play against Chelsea. In the Netherlands they say: that is other cook. I don’t know if it is in English also like that. But no. It is another biscuit.’ En: ‘I said to my players that I was squeezing my ass, but it was the wrong expression. I have twitched my ass on the bench because we were out of balance.’
